Ice Energy at Distributech 2009

I'm in San Diego this week attending Distributech 2009. The show hasn't started yet, but as I was helping set up the Itron booth, I got to check out Ice Energy's display.

Ice gained notoriety in the industry by winning the Energy Venture Fair several years in a row, and for good reason. They have a clever yet simple solution to managing peak air conditioning loads. Freeze a big ol' block of ice at night when power is cheap, and run fans over the ice to blow cold air during the day when power is expensive.

They'll be filling the "Ice bear" with water water tonight, so I'll get to see the massive block of ice tomorrow. I'll be sure to bring a sweater.
